For oil and gas M&A – it ‘s all quiet on Colorado’s Niobrara front

acquisitions and mergers are still getting done in North Dakota and Texas, but it has gotten quiet on the front, according to the accounting and consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.

In their assessment of third quarter 2012 m&a activity there was a healthy $31.4 billion worth of deals nationwide, but hardly any in the Niobrara, which stretches from Colorado’s El Paso County into Wyoming.

With natural gas prices at a 10-year-low, companies have shifted to adding more profitable liquid rich shale plays to their portfolios, according to PwC.

The Niobrara should fall right into the zone, but no.
