New Wyoming oil, gas map released

Wyoming Oil and Gas Map

By JEREMY FUGLEBERG Star-Tribune business editor

The Wyoming State Geological Survey has released its annually updated map of oil and natural gas resources in Wyoming.

The map includes the boundaries of producing and abandoned oil and gas fields in Wyoming, producing and produced formations, field designations, pipeline sizes and locations, refinery and gas plant locations and capacities, basin locations and the extent of oil shale-bearing rocks.

Data for the map came from previously published WSGS materials on oil and natural gas resources in Wyoming. The Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission provided information on the wells, and pipeline data from the Wyoming Pipeline Authority was used for some of the updates.

The map is available to download free of charge from the WSGS website, or it can be purchased from the WSGS at its online store, by calling 307-766-2286, ext. 224, or visiting the WSGS on the University of Wyoming campus in Laramie.
