Commerce City delays oil and gas decision

Commerce City’s town council on Monday voted to postpone for 30 days a final decision to impose a six-month moratorium on oil and gas drilling and hydraulic fracturing — or “fracking” — within city limits.

And in return, Hilcorp Energy Co. , a private oil and gas company based in Houston, has agreed not to work on an old well — first drilled in 1983 — for 30 days, said David Neslin, the director of the Colorado Oil & Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC), the state agency that regulates industry operations in the state.
