Colorado House approves study of oil and gas impacts

A wide-ranging study of analyze the health and quality-of-life impacts of oil and gas production along Colorado’s Front Range has passed the state House of Representatives. It now goes to the Senate for consideration.

House Bill 1297 is sponsored by Rep.Joann Ginal, D- Fort Collins. If signed into law, it would direct the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to conduct the study by Jan. 1, 2017.

The study would focus on Adams, Arapahoe Boulder, Broomfield, Larimer and Weld counties. The study will cost $598,717, according to a fiscal note on the bill.

The House vote was 38-26 in favor of the bill. All Democratic representatives voted for the bill, joined by one lone Republican, Rep.Jared Wright, R-Grand Junction.
